    Ooty is an international tourist destination in the Nilgiris district. Tourists visiting Ooty can visit the Government Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, Ooty Boat House, Pine Forest, Shooting Level, Bikara Boat House and Bikara Falls. Tourists can visit the Doddabetta View Points, which is one of the highest peaks in Tamil Nadu. A 10 field tea park has been set up on the Ooty-Kotagiri road on behalf of the Agriculture department to enable tourists visiting the Doddabetta hills to learn about Nilgiri tea cultivation.

    Initially the agriculture department decided to set up a small scale tea factory in the part in collaboration with a private company. However, it is currently being maintained as a natural tea park as the government has not given permission to start a small scale tea factory there. The tea park is equipped with sports equipment for tourists to play hide-and-seek with their children.

    Spread over an area of about one field, the Ooty tea factory is nestled amidst the blue mountains of the Nilgiris, a must-see for nature lovers, photographers and tea lovers alike. Tourists learn about the origin of different types of tea leaves around the world and the history associated with tea in India. In this vast land, tourists can go to tea farms and learn the process of picking fresh tea leaves in its packaging.

    Inside the factory, the process of processing tea by cut, twist and curl (CDC) machines is clearly shown. At the end of the visit, one can taste different types of tea and buy specially designed tea souvenirs such as the Tea Museum logo and tea cups engraved with tea plates.
