Adding pride to the international tourist city of Ooty is the century-old government botanical garden. The Ooty Botanical garden is home to a variety of rare plants found only in a few countries in the world. The park also has an Italian garden. The Italian prisoners were responsible for the formation of this garden. The British government recruited Italian soldiers who fought against their forces during World War II.
